Named for the missionary founders of the tradition: Fritz Ramseyer of the Presbyterian mission, Thomas Birch Freeman the pioneer Methodist, and Rev. S. N. Pearson, the college’s first headmaster.
Student Life
Daily life at Prempeh extends from the classroom to the dormitory, dining hall, playing fields, clubs, and house competitions.
Every student belongs to one of eleven houses. The house system organises boarding, student leadership, welfare, activities, and inter-house competition.

Aggrey · Guggisberg
For Dr. James Kwegyir Aggrey, the great Gold Coast educationist, and Sir Gordon Guggisberg, the governor whose era shaped modern education in Ghana.
Osei Tutu · Opoku Ware · Serwaa
These royal names honour the founder of the Asante nation, the Asantehene who consolidated it, and the royal line that sustained it. Together, they recognise the kingdom that gave the college its land and name.
Butler · Arthur Clark · Matthew Opoku Prempeh
These house names connect the founding era to the present day. Butler House dates from the college’s earliest years. Arthur Clark House honours a former expatriate headmaster, while the eleventh house honours an old boy who later served as Minister for Education and Energy. The two newest houses were dedicated in 2023.

Robotics Club
Prempeh College became the first African secondary school to win the Robofest World Championship in 2016. The club gives students practical experience in programming, design, and engineering.

Club teams carry the green and gold to competitions in Ghana and abroad, and the trophies come back to Kumasi with them. Making a travelling team is one of the surest marks of a Prempeh boy.
